SCOLIOSIS
OUR SERVICES
Remember those days when you’d bend forward in front of the school nurse and they’d check everyone for scoliosis? Well, that doesn’t happen anymore.
KIDS NO LONGER GET CHECKED FOR SCOLIOSIS AT SCHOOL
At least not in any of the Albury-Wodonga schools we’ve seen at House of Chiropractic.
So how do we know if our kids have scoliosis? Unfortunately, we don’t — unless they’re checked.
And we’re now seeing the consequences:
-
Children are almost fully developed by the time scoliosis is detected, making correction incredibly difficult — sometimes impossible.
-
Children are being misdiagnosed by health professionals who don’t assess for scoliosis, when the spine is actually the underlying issue.
-
Scoliosis is going undetected into the late teens or adulthood, leading to long-term pain, dysfunction, and postural deformity.

WHAT IS SCOLIOSIS?
Scoliosis is a curvature or deformity of the spine seen when looking from behind, where the spine should be straight, it curves.
Sometimes this curvature is obvious. Other times it’s subtle and goes unnoticed.
Tragically, scoliosis is rarely obvious at its onset, at the very stage when it may still be corrected.
WHAT CAUSES SCOLIOSIS?
There are several possible causes, including:
-
Congenital (from birth)
-
Neuromuscular or paralytic conditions
-
A short leg (an early indicator, but not always the cause)
-
Lifestyle factors such as posture or carrying heavy school bags
-
Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) – the most common type, where scoliosis develops during growth for no known reason (85% of all scoliosis cases)
CHIROPRACTIC CARE FOR SCOLIOSIS
Every scoliosis case is unique — in cause, shape, and severity. That’s why no two chiropractic approaches are the same.
At House of Chiropractic, we tailor care based on your individual situation.
Our programs may include:
-
Chiropractic adjustments
-
Functional and corrective exercises
-
ScoliRoll tractioning
-
Heel lifts (when indicated)
If we believe your case requires further input, we’ll refer you to the most appropriate specialist for a second opinion.
