A child’s brain grows and develops more in the first four years than in the entire rest of its living years. All development and behaviours are a window into the functional state of the nervous system.

If your baby has shown signs of:

• Significant or prolonged discomfort or unsettledness

• Difficulty latching, feeding or digesting

• Preferences feeding on one side over the other

• Restricted neck, arm or leg movement

• Difficulty with tummy time, crawling, walking or talking

• Flat or asymmetrical head shape

• Discomfort or dislike of the car seat

• Avoidance behaviours like favouring one position or one side of the body

… then we highly recommend an Initial Consultation to discuss and thoroughly assess. At this first visit we take our time to listen and assess before explaining, with clarity, what is happening and why these symptoms are persisting.

The chiropractic care we provide for infants and toddlers is specifically modified to be supremely gentle and specific, and relevant to each individual child’s size, age and stage of development.

Chiropractic adjustments for babies and kids look quite different to the way we adjust most adults – there’s no forceful movements, no “popping” or “cracking”. We will always take our time to first show and explain to you exactly what we are doing before proceeding with anything, to be sure you feel comfortable and well informed.

Please note that we do not provide any treatment or adjustments at the first visit (Initial Consultation). This is because we take very seriously the assessment and analysis piece of the puzzle that is our work. After your Initial Consultation your chiropractor will take time to review your case and study the findings of your scans and any other tests done so that they can give you the best explanation of results and recommend a truly tailored plan of care.

This also means that even if you are feeling unsure or apprehensive about chiropractic care for your child, you can rest assured that by booking an Initial Consultation you are only committing to a detailed discussion and assessment with one of our chiropractors. Only after you have had the results of your child’s assessment clearly explained to you at a follow-up visit will you be offered the opportunity to begin adjustments for your child.
